The scientific programmes for these symposia has generally included overviews and summaries by senior clinicians and laboratory scientists, as well as free communications of novel data. The topics at these meetings have touched on most of the state-of\u2013the-art work in the field. The interactions between the attendees were often instrumental in stimulating new investigative approaches.
